Easton Chamber Music Festival promotes lifelong chamber music-making and provides learning and performance opportunities for musicians. We aim to contribute to Easton and the surrounding towns' rich cultural tradition by developing local talent, and by bringing musical events of the highest caliber to the whole community.
ECMF invites adult musicians to participate in chamber music workshop. Musicians are encouraged to attend in pre-formed groups, sized quartet or larger. Individual string and wind players are put in ensembles based on availability. The workshop is also open to a limited number of pianists. Masterclasses are led by an internationally renowned faculty. Participants receive 7+hours of ensemble coaching during the festival. The coaching is in a masterclass format. However, we rotate faculty in such way that each ensemble is coached by 2 or 3 faculty members. The reasoning behind it is two-fold: to give participants a different perspective in terms of musical interpretation and rehearsal style as well as provide expertise tailored specifically to the type of the ensembles. In addition to the masterclasses participants have an option to attend faculty rehearsals and performances, participate in sight-reading sessions, and perform at the final concert.
Easton, a picturesque New England town, is located about 45 minutes away from Boston, MA and about 30 minutes away from Providence RI. There is ample choice of restaurants and a variety of walks and trails in the area. Easton is known for its connection to the Ames family, and is the home to several building and public projects designed by the prominent American architects H.H. Richardson and Frederick Law Olmsted.
